As the construction of the Ducktrap Harbor Residence approached completion, the owner of the design-build company and I decided to surprise the project’s clients with a gift that would be waiting for them at the tip of their idyllic oceanfront peninsula.   Designed to withstand the harsh maritime climate of Maine, this permanent outdoor bench was constructed from two granite legs sourced from a local stone quarry, and an ipe seat and seatback secured to a custom-fabricated stainless-steel frame.
