northport kitchen renovation

This rustic seaside vacation lodge had been in the same family for several generations (without any alterations) before the owners approached me to renovate the small, rarely-used kitchen. After deciding to gut the entire kitchen/dining space, the clients requested a fresh layout that would accommodate plenty of countertop and storage space for catering large family gatherings. They also wanted to add a playful/youthful energy to the home's dark stained wood and fishing/hunting decor. While the family had not spent much time in this house in the recent past, it was becoming a popular school-break retreat for their daughter who was attending college at the time (and who loved cooking). She offered a lot of input regarding overall the kitchen's layout, and elected to pick the cabinetry's bold paint colors once the overall design process was complete. Prior to renovation, this space had a very low ceiling which made the room dark and unwelcoming, so we decided to remove it altogether and incorporate the attic space above (and its western-facing window), as well as adding uplighting and a coat of whitewash in order to brighten the space even further.
